Fall Volunteer Opportunities

With the falling leaves come chances to serve the St. Peter community. Read on to learn about what volunteer opportunities are available to you in the coming months!

Fall Park Cleanup on Sunday, October 16: Help us clean up the park that we care for! Everyone is welcome to join us in this effort at Prairie Ridge Park in St. Peter at 3 p.m. Bring gloves and rakes; garbage bags will be provided.

The Kitchen Re-Opens on Monday, October 24: The Kitchen, a free community meal at Trinity Lutheran Church, is back in business starting on October 24. There will be opportunities to serve their needs through shopping for food, meal preparation, serving, and washing dishes. The Kitchen is open on Monday nights from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter.

Union Street Work Day on Saturday, October 29: We will be participating in a work day at Union Street Place, a transitional housing shelter in St. Peter. Look out for a sign-up sheet coming to Union’s foyer!

Volunteer at the Kitchen on Monday, November 7: Prepare, serve, or help clean up the free community meal at The Kitchen. Watch for a sign-up sheet in the foyer!

Pack Food on Sunday, November 20: Join us to help pack food for the Children’s Weekend Food Program (CWFP)! We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at Union (pictured above) to organize and assemble bags with a week’s worth of food for CWFP, which serves students in St. Peter from preschool to 8th grade. This will be the week that Union sponsors with funds from the loose offering and designated checks during September and October. Everyone is welcome to help on the 20th at 2 p.m., but we ask that children under 12 years of age have a designated adult helper.

Thank you for helping to care for our local community! No amount of time or effort is too small when it comes to showing love to our neighbors.

“Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me — you did it to me.’” ~ Matthew 25:38-40, The Message
