Holy Week at Union

Holy week is here! We invite you to worship with us at services throughout this week.

Palm Sunday

April 2, 10:15 a.m.

On Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, greeted by people waving palm branches. As he passed through the crowd, they laid down the branches on the ground. This signified their recognition of Jesus as king. What’s more, Jesus’ riding into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey fulfilled the Messiah prophecy of eternal life in Heaven.

Join us for a joyful worship, complete with palm branches, on Sunday, April 2 at 10:15 a.m.

Maundy Thursday

April 6, 7:00 p.m.

On Maundy Thursday, we remember the night Jesus held the Last Supper with His disciples. Join us for a Maundy Thursday service (with communion) on April 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Maundy Thursday is typically marked with Holy Communion because Jesus served bread and wine as His body and blood at the Last Supper. This was also the day that, while washing the disciples’ feet, Jesus commanded them to “love one another just as I have loved you.” Maundy Thursday has given us these foundations of our faith — ones that we hold especially dear during the season of Easter.

Good Friday

April 7, 7:00 p.m.

On Good Friday, we remember the suffering, crucifixion, and human death of Jesus Christ.  Good Friday recognizes this ultimate sacrifice made by Christ for the forgiveness of sins and so that we may enter Heaven one day. It is rightly a solemn day, but is also one of hope and gratitude as we acknowledge what our Savior has done for us.

The Good Friday service will follow a different liturgy this year, using a Tenebrae service order, with somber Scripture readings and the gradual extinguishment of seven candles. Join us on April 7 at 7:00 p.m.

Easter Sunday, April 9

Continental Breakfast: 8:30 a.m.

Easter Worship: 10:15 a.m.

Our hearts rejoice on Easter at the news that Jesus is risen; his victory over death means that eternal life is granted to all who believe in him. It also marks the end of the Lenten season.

A continental breakfast will be served before worship on Easter, from 8:30-10:00 a.m. Worship begins at 10:15 a.m. Please join us on this day of hope and celebration.
